At present, China's automotive imports are relatively modest in scale compared with the total output value of the industry, but some key core components such as transmissions are still mainly dependent on imports. According to the General Administration of Customs, in 2019, China's imports of automobiles and automotive chassis amounted to $48.49 billion (YoY -3.2%), and imports of automotive parts and components amounted to $30.63 billion (YoY -12.7%). In the first half of this year, affected by the epidemic at home and abroad, the import value of automobiles and auto chassis and parts fell by 30.0% and 12.1%, respectively, year-on-year.
